The planner that didn’t want to be thrown away

4–6 minutes

A few months ago I found three half-used Bloom planners in a drawer. Not lost, not forgotten — just outdated. The year and quarter they were built for had ended, and somehow that made the forty-odd blank pages still in them feel unusable. And on some level, there was a tiny wave of shame at the fact that like regular journals, on some days I hadn’t shown up to the work of planning, and reflecting and doodling.

That’s the problem I kept circling. Bloom is built on one idea: work with yourself, not against yourself. But the planner itself was working against me in some regards, asking me to start over every twelve weeks, whether or not the last twelve weeks were finished with me or not. And it’s not that it’s chunky to carry around or the templates in and of them selves overwhelming. It’s just the way my neurospicy brain works. Not all days look the same.

And there it was; an old, abandoned idea,
gently resurfacing.

When I first imagined what the Bloom Planner could be, I had a very specific picture in my head. The portability and quiet class of a Filofax; that sense that the thing itself was worth keeping — but at a size and price point that didn’t require a whole personality commitment. The chic, current energy of Typo, without the neon that felt like shouting or the pastels that felt like whispering. The reliability of a Moleskine, that simple but cool factor that makes you actually want to pick it up. And then — a dash of whimsy. Something a little neurospicy. Something that understood that planning doesn’t have to be beige or millennial gray in order to be serious.

But more than anything, I wanted to bring my worlds together. The structure for my days and weeks sitting alongside my goals and vision. My journaling and reflections next to my health habits. Space for creative musings, and somewhere to take notes or doodle in a meeting — without four notebooks, a stack of sticky notes, and loose sheets of paper that somehow always end up everywhere except where you need them.

That was the vision. It took a while to figure out and source the form.

The new Bloom system is a binder. Black, simple, built to last. But the part that matters isn’t the material — it’s what it holds.

The goal-setting template you completed in January doesn’t disappear when April arrives. It stays in the binder, where it belongs, because it’s still true. You don’t redo your values work every quarter — you build on it. What changes is the module alongside it: the planning structure, the journal, the reset tool — whichever one matches where you actually are right now, not where a print schedule decided you should be. The binder is the one constant. Everything else slots in and out as your life needs it to.

The piece you keep

Black luggage-grade material, a quietly embossed Bloom mark, a 4-ring mechanism built to hold everything you’ll ever add. Buy it once. Fill it for as long as you need it.

Gentle structure, easy momentum

Twelve weeks, structured around who you are rather than what you think you should be achieving. Clarity on what matters this quarter. A structure fluid enough to bend to your life and gentle enough that when it does, you can maintain momentum while keeping your whimsy.

The long view.

The whole year, undated, in one place. Somewhere to hold the bigger picture in a weekly view, while the quarterly planner handles the twelve-week detail.

The messy middle between seasons

Some chapters don’t announce themselves cleanly. They arrive as a quiet restlessness; something ending, something beginning, or both at once. It’s tempting to want to put your head down and wait for the other side. Seasons doesn’t work like that. It treats the in-between as the work itself. Thirteen entries at your own pace; each one a structured invitation to slow down, look inward, and stay honest about what’s actually happening. Not what you wish was happening. What actually is.

The screen-free reset

Five pages. Simple designs: A house, a rainbow, a dinosaur, a car. Not intricate, not a project. For when scrolling isn’t actually rest and your hands need something to do that your brain doesn’t have to manage. No complicated patterns that overwhelm. Just 5 minutes and child-like whimsy.

Something tells me there’ll be a new wave of momentum and inspiration with this new format. Perhaps it’s the commitment to human centred design or maybe it’s the hit of dopamine that comes with novelty that my neurospicy brain loves. Either way, Bloom is and always will be about tools and resources that help to work with yourself, not against yourself. Same as always — just built to last a bit longer this time. I’m keen to hear your thoughts.
